Chieko Okazaki has an extensive background in the field of education. During her professional career she taught school in Hawaii, Utah, Colorado, and eventually became an elementary school principal. After retirement she supervised student teachers and mentored struggling readers. Mrs. Okazaki is founder and president of The Children's Reading Foundation of Utah. She has served on numerous boards, including Southern Virginia University Board of Trustees and first counselor in the worldwide Relief Society presidency (women's service organization) of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (1990 to 1997). She is an award winning Christian author, whose bestselling titles include Cat’s Cradle, Lighten Up!, Aloha, Sanctuary, Being Enough, and her most recent What A Friend We Have in Jesus. She is sought after as an inspirational speaker, enlightening her audiences with practical advice and encouragement.
