Appalachia KY Programs
Books for Babies

Books for Babies provides a child's very first book through a CRF for Appalachia volunteer visit before they've even left the hospital. Parents are encouraged to sign the Reading Pledge and make the committment to read with their child 20 minutes every day from birth!
Prime Time Reading
PRIME TIME, a unique six to eight-week humanities-based program of reading, discussion, and storytelling at public libraries and other venues, emphasizes the importance of families reading together to discuss significant cultural and ethical themes.
Prime Time Reading begins in Clay County, Kentucky with noted children's author Anne Shelby and discussion led by Jamie Johnson of the Children's Reading Foundation of Appalachia on Thursday, March 24, 2011. If you would like to participate, please register by calling the Clay County Public Library at 606-598-2617. We hope to see you there!
