Kitsap-Olympic Peninsulas
Reading is the fundamental skill every child needs for success in school. Families and communities are the foundation of this reading effort. Our goal is to assure all children learn to read early and well by providing education and encouragement to parents (and caregivers) on their important role in raising a reader.
The Children’s Reading Foundation of Kitsap-Olympic Peninsulas responds to the unique needs and opportunities of its region by reaching out to parents, and others who provide primary care for children, with information, resources, activities and encouragement. It establishes partnerships to promote early literacy activities and programs throughout the region. Where were you when you heard the message “read with a child, it’s the most important 20 minutes of your day?” This question guides our relentless public awareness campaign. Reading together is a simple, enjoyable activity for everyone—family members and others who care from children—yet is has a profound effect.Reading together helps children get ready for kindergarten and helps them learn more and more as they progress through school.
