2016 Annual Report

Together, the foundation and its partners

share the message, Read With a Child 20

Minutes Every Day, and deliver early liter-

acy and learning programs for parents and

caregivers of children birth to age 8. This

unwavering focus ensures children are

prepared to start school ready and reading

on grade level by the end of third grade.
The Children’s Reading Foundation is cele-

brating its 20th anniversary in 2016. A year-

long campaign is underway to commemo-

rate the anniversary. The campaign goals

are to increase awareness of the mission

and share the stories about the extraordi-

nary impact of the foundation, its chapters,

programs, grantees, and partners.

In addition to monthly themes and activities,

the inaugural Read With a Child Week will

be celebrated September 18 - 24, 2016.

This week of nationwide reading sessions

and events planned and hosted by founda-

tion partners will help emphasize the vital

importance of daily reading with children

from birth through third grade. During Read

With a Child Week, families are encouraged

to recommit to reading with children for at

least 20 minutes each day.
